Cal Raleigh / Mariner Moose (Seattle Mariners) McFarlane MLB Combo (2). Cal Raleigh is an American professional baseball catcher for the Seattle Mariners in Major League Baseball. Born on November 26, 1996, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, he was drafted by the Mariners in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of Florida State University and made his MLB debut in 2021. A switch-hitter known for his rare combination of power and defensive skill, Raleigh has become one of the game's premier backstops, earning a Gold Glove and Platinum Glove for his defense and becoming an All-Star. In 2025 he led Major League Baseball with 60 home runs, the most ever by a catcher in a season, and set multiple records while anchoring Seattle's lineup. The Mariner Moose made his debut on April 13, 1990, during the Mariners' home opener. He was selected as the Seattle Mariners' first-ever mascot after a contest in which more than 2,500 entries were submitted by children 14 and under from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Moose loves skipping through the concourse, driving his ATV around the warning track, and leading cheers from every corner of T-Mobile Park.
