He signed an eight-year, $66 million contract in October 2024 and secured the starting role when Linus Ullmark was traded that June. Swayman helped the United States win the 2025 IIHF World Championship, its first since 1933, earning a shutout in the gold medal game. A former University of Maine standout, he won the 2020 Mike Richter Award as the top NCAA Division I goalie and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
